Most smart phone devices are running Android OS and the numbers are climbing.

While some people may be favoring iOS on iPhone, the audience is not growing and Apple's lock down of thier OS, AppStore, and development platform are taking their toll. Given Apple's history they are unlikely to change their policy.
Google on the other hand already has a massive audience and growing based of cloud applications. Android OS already runs on mobile phones and tablets... and our TV's are next. Google will be able to sync all devices via their cloud applications.
